23 December, 2017 Yes, yesterday Porto airport security workers called for strike action Christmas eve starting 00:01 hours and end 23:59 hours Christmas Day 2017. Strike will effect all Portuguese airports. If leaving from Porto Airport get to the airport earlier than usual. You don't want to get stuck at airport security and miss your flight. Machinist union has given strike notice. Metro workers will strike starting noon, Friday, 1 September till noon Monday, the 4th of September, 2017. This strike coincides with Red Bull Air Show

Portuguese Airport Security Strike
This week-end 23rd and 24th June, 2017
SITAVA union workers. Airport security companies Prosegur and Securitas workers will strike for 48 hours. All airports will be involved including Azores and Madeira. If leaving Porto Airport come minimum three hours early, carry nothing in your carry-on to help the security check move faster. TAP Portugal Airline Strike
Announce today an unheard of strike by The Union of Aviation Workers and Airports (SITAVA) union workers.
These workers will make TAP airline passengers life hell from the June 3, 2017 to October 1, 2017.
TAP Portugal had a 35% increase in passengers this April and this way they are thanked. Stay in touch with TAP Portugal airline your flight could well be delayed or brought forward.

Portuguese airport security strike by union workers planned

AIRPORT SECURITY STRIKE
Saturday 29 April, 2017 Portuguese airport security, Union of Aviation Workers and Airports (Sitava), Prosegur and Securitas company workers threaten strike action between May 13 -17th at all Portuguese airports.
This includes Azores and Madeira May 12th and 13th May when the Pope visits Fatima shrine.
May 13 -17, 2017 union is arranging 24 hour strikes.
Get to your Portuguese airport at least three hours early. Bring minimum hand luggage to get through customs fast. Stay in close contact with your airline.
This is an old dispute which has been going on what seems like for years. Hopefully cooler heads will prevail at the last minute and knock sense into them.
Don't expect news out till 24 hours before strike action is to take place. We will update on either here or Easy Travel Report

Thursday 29 December 2016 Unbelievable amount of flights cancelled from Porto today.
Tap Portugal, Lufthansa, Brussels Airline, Ryanair, Azores Airline, Iberia, Vueling, SAA and thats between 3pm and 6pm. What's going on? Later in the day less cancellations in departures but plenty in arrivals.
Monday 26 December 2016 Here’s the latest. The Union of Aviation Workers and Airports (Sitava) - Strikes this week are cancelled, baggage and airport security.Talks to begin again end of January. Good news.
Update:-Friday 23 December Here's an announcement from Portuguese Airports, don't bring hand luggage. Porto and Madeira airports to take brunt of strike action on Christmas Eve.

June 9, 2016 Portuguese baggage handlers will strike July, 1, 2 and 3 nationwide. Will effect flights from Porto Airport.
Union involved SITAVA, handling companies to be involved Groundforce, Portway, out sourced workers and temps. 5,000 workers in this sector 1,300 in SITAVA union.

19 September 2012 This was on the EasyJet website. Potential Industrial action affecting Faro and Oporto flights on 21st September easyJet have been informed of potential industrial action by ground handling staff affecting flights to and from Faro and Oporto on Friday 21st September.
11 August 2012 Portuguese airport workers at Porto Airport Porto airport and Faro airport who work for EasyJet threaten strike 15 August 2012 and 17 August. EasyJet will release more information on Monday.
