17 July, 2018 It's official Italian air traffic control nationwide strike is a go. This time it is being held on a busy summer Saturday. Strike begins Saturday, 21 July, 2018, 00:01 - 23:59 hours. Best hound your airline flights will start being diverted Friday evening and will not get back to normal till late Sunday. Expect your flight to be delayed, canceled or brought forward.

Strikes for Tuesday, 8th May, 2018
Rome 10am - 6pm
Catania, Lamezia and Sardinia 1pm - 5pm.
Several other aviation unions will be striking from 10am - 6pm nationwide including baggage handling.
Personnel from Pisa and Florence Airport 10am - 6om
Milan 10am - 2pm.
Terrible day to travel in and out of Italy. Don't forget knock on effect causing delays across the aviation network - North Africa, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.

May 26, 2017 Air traffic control strike planned for this Sunday has been cancelled and rescheduled to July 12, 2017 1pm -5pm. Airport worker strikes are cancelled. Alitalia strike is still on. Taxi strike planned for following day also cancelled.

Update:-20 April, 2017 Italian air traffic control strike for tomorrow has been cancelled along with ALL other aviation related strike action. Lucky you. We really shouldn't say cancelled it has only been deferred till 28 May, 2017 10am to 6pm.

Rome and Milan expected to be hit hard by taxi strike
Tomorrow Italian taxi drivers will strike 8am to 10pm. BAD news for commuters extra traffic on road.
Demonstration in Rome, Madonna di Loreto square 9am - 2pm. Major disruption is expected in Rome and Milan several thousand participants expected.
Drivers will meet with government officials today 5pm.

Other airport workers will be on strike that day, not known what the effect will be, likely to involve baggage handling.
Update:-Monday 20th We have a bit more information about the airport workers strike. The 24 hour strike started at 00.01 hrs Flights between the hours of 7am and 10am will leave as with flights from 6 - 9pm.

12 April 2016 Flights spent spinning out of control today by a wildcat strike from not Italian but Belgian air traffic control. Issue over pension reforms. Which leaves you with a cancelled or brought forward or severely delayed flight. We do know strike will go into the night if not longer. (How can this strike be legal, no notice. I'd expect union will incur heavy fines)

Update Monday 23 November 2015 Strike by air traffic control has been cancelled. Except, if you are flying to and from Venice, Verona, Treviso and Bologna. Padua is the home of one of the four Italian control centres. These controllers will strike from 12 noon to 4pm.
