Brussels Airlines Pilot Strike
10 May 2018 You should know some flights from and to Zaventem Airport by Brussels airlines have been cancelled. Brussels Airlines pilots have handed in strike notice for next week Monday, Wednesday 14 and 16 May.
24 April, 2018 We have some new strike action announcements for you. Which will effect your flight to and from Brussels Airport.
Two will effect the aviation network world wide.

2/2018 Aviapartner and Swissport have renewed baggage handling contract till 2025. Workers are still under staffed, dealing with poor scheduling and lack of training.

4 February 2018 Very busy bus company De Lijn workers will strike 16 February, 2018 for 24 hours. Be prepared for extra traffic on roads, traffic jams, passengers pour into trains. Give yourself extra time to travel to Zaventem Airport.

Yesterday Aviapartner baggage handling company at Brussels airport held a wildcat strike. Strike involved incoming flights only. Minimal wait for luggage. Workers are complaining of over work. This is likely to get worse in the summer. You might want to bring just a carry on..
We know Aviapartner does handling for Ryanair, British Airways and TUIFly, possible other airlines involved.
Belgian Taxi Strike
Belgian taxi strike is planned for Tuesday, December, 12. Other taxi strikes will come this month, no dates given.
KLM Strike
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
KLM strike by flight attendants. KLM strike will last 24 hours and be held on Monday, 8 January 2018. Schiphol Airport to take brunt of strike action. VNC flight attendants union giving plenty of notice ot passengers. Issue over management reducing one flight attendant on long hauls. Minimal disruption expected.

CGSP Cheminots Rail 19 December, 2017 Strike action Idea is to block the country, demonstrations are also planned. Strike starts Monday, 10pm 18th goes till 10pm Tuesday. Demonstrations start 10:30am in Brussels Tuesday.

Public service strike again:-
Wednesday 20, December and Thursday, Friday 21 and 22 December.
CGSP notice includes trams, bus and metro. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your airport Charleroi and Liege.
French air Traffic Control Strike
Flights to and from Brussels Airport will be effected. Controllers will strike starting Monday, 9 October, 2017 early evening, not ending till Wednesday morning 11th October. Your flight will be delayed, cancelled or brought forward. Call your airline, be prepared to wait.

22 August 2017 Wildcat strike today by Swissport baggage handlers. Some flights have been cancelled. Airport asking passengers, if possible, take hand luggage only.
Swissport handlers work for 35 airlines. Here's some:-Brussels Airlines, Aeroflot, Alitalia, Hainan Airlines, Finnair, Swiss Airlines, Germanwings, Delta Airlines, United Airlines, Air Arabia, Lufthansa, Air Canada, Air Algerie, Royal Air Maroc, Thai Airways.

Update:-22 June 2016 Turns out general strike is still on for Friday. 7sur.be reporting transportation will be disrupted. Just give yourself extra time to get to your airport expect taxi shortages, traffic jams..
Much of the country is expected to be paralyzed. Trains will stop working 10pm, tomorrow, Thursday. SNCB advising passengers to “provide for other transportation alternatives and not just rely on trains to get around”

French Air Traffic Control Strike
15 May 2016 Flights from and to Brussels Airport will likely be delayed, cancelled or brought forward due to French air traffic control strike.
French air traffic controllers will strike on Thursday May 19, 2016. (and perhaps 26 May?) If strike goes ahead airlines will be asked to cut back flights to and from France. Stay in close contact with your airline. Air France will take brunt of strike action. French national rail company SNCF is also striking.
French taxi drivers are threatening to join in.
If you are changing flights in France and have a long lay over in a French international arrivals lounge. Get a French visa as you will be sleeping on a cot in the lounge while other passengers sleep in a comfortable hotel bed with private bathroom. March 2016 saw 140 passengers sleeping on the floor at Orly Airport.
Expect knock-on effect.

Wednesday 11 May 2016 Wildcat strike today by baggage handlers who work for Aviapartner. Aviapartner do handling for Qatar Airways, Jetair, Etihad and SAS.
Saturday April 23, 2016 Controllers still calling in sick, delays of over an hour. Perhaps you need to know French air traffic control along with several other transportation unions will strike this week 28 April. Greek general strike is being planned for May.
Thursday 14 April 2016 41 flights ended up being canceled today. 29 incoming flights and 12 outbound, mostly Brussels Airlines. According to the powers that be, situation is now stable.
12 April 2016 Wildcat strike by Belgian air traffic control (How can this be legal?) Strike over pension reform. Call your airline asap.

22 March 2016 Brussels Airport closed due to two explosions in the departure lounge. One near American Airline desk other Brussels Airlines check in desk at 8am. Another explosion at local subway station. All trains halted to the airport. Roads blocked allowing rescue workers only.
Several deaths and injuries have been reported.

Update:-August 3, 2015 Go slow started today at Brussels airport and now threatens to go on all week. Get to the airport earlier than usual.
Monday August 3, 2015 by security workers will “Work to Rule” “Go Slow… Go slow will go on for a "few hours" You will likely to be delayed as security workers will be doing thorough security checks. Airport has had 50 security breaches since March of this year.

FGTB Union plan massive walk-out - will send a "strong signal" union expect airports to not function. Brussels Airlines notice up. Urging passengers to bring hand luggage for both strike dates.
Monday December 8 and Monday 15 December, 2014 Charleroi airport and Brussels - Zaventem Airport - a significant number of workers and managers are expected to be on strike and will likely be blocking your entry to the Charleroi and Brussels airport. Unions had the nerve to ask officials to stop the first flights of the day.
STIB, buses, Brussels public transport will also have two days of strikes 8th and 15th. Thalys has cancelled trains to France, Brussels and the Netherlands. Eurostar all trains will stop at Lille.
